Professor Green will headline this year’s Freshers’ Ball on Friday 3 October, the Durham Students’ Union announced yesterday.
The British rapper will perform material from his new album, Growing Up in Public, alongside well-known hits.
Huw Stephens, a BBC Radio 1 presenter, will play a DJ set. Adding to the line up are the hip-hop artist, Mikill Pane, and R&B trio, M.O.
Dan Slavin, Durham Students’ Union President, said: “The event is open to all existing students, whatever level you are studying at, so if you are in Durham that weekend, we welcome you along.
“We are all very much looking forward to going to the event, as it’s a great opportunity for us to meet lots of new Durham students, as well as reconnect with those who have been away from Durham over the summer.”
Tickets for the event – which will take place in Rainton Meadows Arena outside Durham City – are priced from £39.50, and include entertainments such as fire-breathers, stilt-walkers, and a fun fair.
Mr Slavin added: “The ball is the perfect way for new students to enjoy a night out with their new college friends, but it is also an opportunity to mingle with those from outside of their college. We encourage all new students to come along and celebrate their exciting new start as a Durham University student.”
