In the early evening I sat with my love
On a terrace in the park
Comforted in a swathe of orange and green
Together we sought our Dreaming Tree
With literary comment we came alive
Our minds raced ahead in time
The quacking ducks ‘laughed’ their accompaniment
Upon whence the mis-shapes came to view
These mis-shapes were our Dreaming Tree
There was one for you and one for me
The male tree bowed and proffered a gestured hand
To invite his lady once more to dance
Like unseen eyes the sea of trees
Cherished such resemblance
As the lovers wished on coins tossed deep
To the waters of Mercury’s fountain
